War of 1812 Veterans

BENNET Solomon (b. abt 1893 PA d. 14 July 1855) Veteran of War of 1812. He served as a Private from 12 January 1814 to 21 March 1814 in Captain Thomas Henry’s Company 138th Regiment of PA Militia. 1850 Census he (57) [born in PA], a farmer, lives in North Sewickley Township, with his wife Elizabeth Jackson (53) [born in Ireland] children include Margaret Walker (23) (b. 7 March 1827 d. 28 July 1907) , Solomon (21), Elizabeth (19), and Mary (16). Burial at Upper Presbyterian Cemetery also knows as North Sewickley Cemetery, North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA.


FREED Jacob (1783 d. aft 1850) A Jacob Freed served as a Private in 138th Regiment (Miller’s) of the Pennsylvania Militia in the War of 1812. 1820 Census Jacob Freed lived in North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA with a family including his wife with 4 children probably all daughters. By 1850 a 67 year old Jacob Freed and his wife Christena (60) live in Columbiana County, Ohio with children Elizabeth (17), John (17), Levi (22) and Mary (27). He probably died in the 1850’s and is buried at North Sewickley Cemetery, North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA.


MCDANIEL Joseph (b. 1792 in Maryland d. 20 February 1871) His PA Veteran’s Burial Card says that he served in the War of 1812 (without naming his unit or regiment) and that he is buried in the Upper Presbyterian Cemetery, Beaver County, PA. 1850 Census states he lives in North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA. He is probably a 58 year old widower living with his son Jethro (13) and a famer Nicholas Bryant (22) and Rebecca J Bryant (19) live with him. She may be his daughter. 1860 Census he is a 67 years old cabinet maker in North Sewickley Township living with Jane (38) McDanel, James (5) and Henry (2) McDanel and Nancy Hackett (15).


RENO Benjamin (b. 27 July 1789 Beaver County, PA d. 25 March 1865) Spouse: Catherine Swick Reno (1791 – 1858). Children: William Reno (1811 – 1889), John Reno (1813 – 1883), Elizabeth Betsey Reno Wiley (1815 – 1892), Martin Luther Reno (1816 – 1891), Martha Jane Reno Jackson,  (1822 – 1884), and Mary Maymes Reno Main (1823 – 1878). Burial: North Sewickley Cemetery, North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA. His burial marker reads “BENJAMIN RENO, – Private, 138 PA Militia, War of 1812 Henry’s Company, Captain Thomas”. He served 12 January 1814 to 21 March 1814. 1850 Census he still lived on a farm in North Sewickley Township with his wife and daughter Maria (12).  1860 Census he is alone, still on a farm in North Sewickley Township. He was the son of William Reno and Amanda Catherine Patterson.


WARNOCK David (b. 1791 d. 12 May 1869) PA Veteran’s Burial Card he served in Perry’s Company Fleet of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. His wife as Jane Thompson Warnock. 1850 Census he is a farmer in North Sewickley Township with his wife Jane and children at home Margaret (28), David (25), Thompson (23), Martha (16), Maria (13) and Robert (10). 1860 Census he is a 69 year old farmer with his wife Jane Thompson Warnock (64) living in North Sewickley Township with Ellen, a 23 year old teacher and Robert (20) a farm hand. He passes away 12 May 1869 and is buried at Upper Presbyterian Church Cemetery which is also known as North Sewickley Cemetery, North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, PA.
